Infrared Pyrometer, Sulphur Processing Service in Claus Thermal Reactors

The Delta Controls Model HIR Pyrometer detects the intensity of infrared energy radiated by the refractory hot face in a Claus thermal reactor. This sensed energy is converted into an electrical signal, which accurately displays the temperature. This is accomplished using narrow-bandpass optical filters and special sensors. The selected sensing spectrums avoid significant errors due to luminosity and absorption.

Thermocouples, Sulphur Processing Service in Claus Thermal Reactors

The Delta Controls Model HTP, HTS & HTX Thermocouples are designed for the primary purpose of reliably protecting a vessel and its refractory lining from excessive temperatures. The HTP provides long-term accuracy and reliability in sulfur processing service.

Custom Valve Concepts

Kates FC Automatic Flow Rate Controllers

Successful in a variety of liquid and gas applications. The Kates FC Valve combines an adjustable orifice with an internal regulating valve, maintaining a constant pressure drop across the metering orifice.

I/Q Valve

Regardless of pressure fluctuations, the Kates I/Q valve will control the flow rate proportional to the 4 – 20 mA input. Flow output is perfectly linear to signal input. By internally controlling the differential pressure across an adjustable orifice, flow control is maintained to within 1-1/2% of setpoint.

How It Works:

The flow rate through an orifice is proportional to the size of the restriction and the differential pressure across it. Regardless of upstream or downstream pressure fluctuations, the internal regulating valve will maintain a constant pressure drop across the adjustable orifice to deliver the set flow rate. In gas applications, variations in upstream pressure and temperature should be minimized due to the compressibility of gases and the corresponding changes in density.

P1=P2 + Spring Force

For example, if supply pressure (P1) increases, the resulting momentary pressure imbalance immediately moves the impeller downward. This action restricts the valve ports thus increasing orifice backpressure (P2), restoring differential pressure and the flow rate to the original settings. The unit will respond equally as well to an upset in outlet pressure (P3).

Typical Applications:

Mechanical Seals – Instrument Purge – Header Systems – Pump Seals – Batching – Blending – NOX Abatement – Reverse Osmosis – Nitrogen Blanketing – O2 Generation – Fountain Control – Waste Water Polymer – Heat Exchangers – Purge Oil – Quench Gas – Irrigation – Deicing – Bottling Production -Food Processing – Test Stands: Dynamometer – Fuel – Glycol

Kates Solution:

Kates Automatic Flow Controllers are self-contained units that respond to pressure changes up and downstream to maintain the optimized set flow for efficient lubrication and heat dissipation. Kates is a cost-effective and low maintenance solution that replaces a traditional multiple component flow control loop. Turndown ratios averaging 30:1 and pressure classes from 150# to 2500# ANSI make Kates versatile for demanding and complicated applications. Kates Flow Controllers are also applicable for gas lubricated, dry running seals. Kates combines an internal regulating valve and adjustable orifice into one unit that self-adjusts to pressure fluctuations to maintain the set flow. Orifice plates and valves alone are insufficient to maintain flow when system pressure changes occur and may require operator adjustments. Kates Flow Controllers are cost effective and have a history of long service life.
